My Thoughts On Everyday By David Levithan

Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.
There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.

It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

Yesterday was valentines day. Not today. But that doesn't matter to me. I will still be posting this review which I was going to post yesterday today.
Because I am a rebel.
Which of course is the only logical explanation for everything I do in my life.
Moving on. I will actually get to this review because I feel as though that is the only reason you are reading this post. Am I right? Is my random flailing for words as an introduction approved by you?

For real though. Why must I get so side tracked? The reason I was gonna post this review yesterday is because it is a review for a contemporary *gasp* MAYA READ A CONTEMPORARY? I did... Whoa.

Contemporary = love
love = valentines day
valentines day = valentines day post
laziness = why I did not post this yesterday

NOW HERE IS THE ACTUAL REVIEW:
In list form, because I have now discovered that lists are the perfect way to do everything. EVERYTHING.

  • Let us begin, with point number one. I loved the concept. The entire idea behind this book was gloriously delicious. Like I mean super unique. which is kinda great! Especially since it was the only reason I didn't DNF this book...

  • Yes instalove happend. I will talk about that more later. But for now I would just like to say. I still enjoyed it despite the obvious grossness of instalove. I actually understood it! A's Character and personality made it very clear why he fell so profoundly in live with Rhiannon! I was annoyed. But I understood.

  • A was Amazing. See what I did there? I connected with them quite easily. I understood A. I really did. This made the book bearable. If I didn't like A, I wouldn't even try to read this book. I did though, so it was nice!

  • The ending had many flaws. But it made me cry. I dont cry unless I love some part of a book. That was A in this story. A made me cry, that is quite the accomplishment as I am a heartless beast.

  • Too much instalove. Right at the beginning too, which obviously means the beginning was rough. I did not enjoy.

  • No obvious climax. Everything seemed to repeat itself. each day was exactly the same, but with a slightly different conflict. I was honestly quite bored...

  • I DID NOT LIKE RHIANNON. In fact I found her INCREDIBLY annoying. I loved A. But I absolutely hated Rhiannon. I felt as though A was way too good for her.

  • Lastly the ending. Flaws I tell you, flaws. why must they happen... I was left hanging. Why. Whyyyy. I honestly thought there was going to be a part two or something. is there?! APPARENTLY THIS IS A SERIES. WHAAAAT.  THERE IS A PART 2!!!

So valentines day is about love. I did not love this book. I am kind of doubting my logic of wanting to post this on valentines day. Maybe it is a good thing I forgot to do that...

Final Verdict

Have you read this book? Did You love it? Did you hate it?
Will you ever read it? Also what is your opinion on contemporaries? Am I the only one who doesn't enjoy them??

  1. I was never sure if I wanted to read this book or not, but I think I'll stay away. The instalove would really frustrate me and I'm not a big romance reader on the best of days so this really probably isn't for me. Shame though, as the concept is really interesting

    1. I agree! Me myself not being a fan of romance would recommend you stay away from this book! Although the concept is really interesting, I couldn't bring myself to enjoy it! Of course it might just be me as I haven't read other people's reviews on this book, it was more of an impulse buy...

  2. I've heard so many positive things about this, so it's interesting to read a review from the perspective of someone who was a bit in the middle about it. I can completely see where you're coming from though - the instalove would probably throw me off too. But at least the concept and the overall message were strong. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous review! ♥

    1. Thank you so much! I hadn't read any reviews on it before I bought it, so it's nice to know that at least some people enjoyed it! Although I found it flawed I can still see why people might like it!
